Description: The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (Bureau) released two Final Rules on Debt Collection Practices at the end of 2020 in hopes of bringing substantial change to the practices of consumer debt collection. In April of 2021, the Bureau also issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and an Interim Final Rule. This webinar will provide a summary of the recent updates impacting fair credit protection and debt collection practices before breaking down and discussing each of the updates independently. We will concentrate on the 2020 Final Rules, the requirements and prohibitions related to the Interim Final Rule, the possibility of delaying effective dates based on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and other updates pertinent to fair credit.

Daniel Baker serves C/A as a Compliance Officer. He attended Michigan State University College of Law. During law school, he worked in a variety of compliance and legal positions for software companies, and Allpine Title. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Utah Valley University. Most recently, he worked for a local law firm based in Temple, TX. Before law school, Daniel worked in various jobs within the financial sector, including a supervisor role at TCF Bank and as a Private Client Banker for JPMorgan Chase Bank. In addition to his professional career, He’s developed and conducted hundreds of seminars and educational classes based on financial independence, as well as a host of other topics.
