Summary of Joint Statement on Community Bank’s Engagement with Core Service Providers

On September 11, 2026, the Federal Reserve System (Board), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) (collectively, the agencies) issued a joint statement to provide clarity on the risk-based supervision of certain services provided to community banking organizations (CBOs). Specifically, the clarification is in regard to third parties that provide critical systems applications and services that support the operations and essential functions of one or more lines of business.
