Summary of National Bank Chartering Final Rule

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has revised its chartering regulations to clarify that national banks chartered as trust institutions are not limited solely to fiduciary activities. The final rule asserts that these institutions may also engage in certain nonfiduciary activities that are part of or related to the operations of a trust company.
