Summary of Reciprocal Deposits – Implementing the 21st Century Housing Act: Interim Final Rule and Request for Comment

On September 1, 2026, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) issued an interim final rule (IFR) and request for public comment on amending the brokered deposit regulations for consistency with the recent changes to the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act (Housing Act). The changes are related specifically to reciprocal deposit statutory provisions that took effect July 11, 2026. The FDIC is also providing clarification regarding the reciprocal deposit framework. Comments are due October 1, 2026.
