Summary of Small Business Lending Under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B) Final Rule
Updated 05/12/2026
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has issued a final rule for implementation of Section 1071 small business data reporting. The final rule implements the proposed rule with no substantial changes from the proposal. The revisions decrease the number of financial institutions that will be required to report small business loan data, decrease the number of data points that must be reported, and provide a new, single compliance date for all covered financial institutions.
