Effective Date: FDIC Official Signs, Advertisement of Membership, False Advertising, Misrepresentation of Insured Status, and Misuse of the FDIC’s Name or Logo

AGENCY:

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

ACTION:

Final rule.

SUMMARY:

The final rule will give FIs flexibility in the color, font, and text size that may be used when displaying the FDIC official digital sign. The intent is to streamline the signage requirements for digital deposit taking channels and as such it will be required on the Homepage, Login Page, and the First Page of the deposit account opening process. Additionally, the final rule narrows the requirements to display non-deposit signs to apply only to the pages primarily dedicated to advertising or providing information about or access to NDIP, and permits a one-time notification for bank customers related to third-party non-deposit products to automatically disappear after three seconds. Also, the requirement of the digital sign and non-deposit sign will only apply to the initial screen and non-deposit transaction screen on ATMS, and permits more machines to display the physical sign rather than a digital sign.

DATES:

Effective date: The amendments made in this rule are effective March 2, 2026.

Compliance date: Compliance is required by April 1, 2027.
