AGENCY:

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

ACTION:

Interim final rule and request for comment.

SUMMARY:

The FDIC issued an Interim Final Rule to update brokered‑deposit regulations, so they align with statutory changes made by the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act (effective July 11, 2026). The rule modernizes how reciprocal deposits are treated under Section 29 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act and provides clarifications to simplify compliance for all insured banks. The rule expands flexibility for banks to use reciprocal deposits without them being classified as brokered, provided certain conditions are met.

DATES:

The interim final rule is effective September 1, 2026. Comments must be received no later than October 1, 2026.
